The basics

Perfect for puppies just getting started or older dogs who could use a little nudge in the right direction, our basic life skills classes typically cover leash manners, polite greetings, handler focus, body handling, stationing (go to your mat), and building confidence through the dog-owner relationship. Owners learn how to guide their dogs through all the necessities, as well as a decent amount about reading and responding to dog behavior. Classes run on 6-week sessions.

behavior modification

We’ve been helping owners with their reactive or fearful dogs for years, all stemming from our own reactive dog and having to guide him toward a functional and stable outlook on life. Our behavior modification programs are based on the science of learning and how dogs naturally interpret human body language - we use this to our advantage. Reactivity is just that: a reaction to a strong emotion, and in order to change the behavior we must change the emotion behind it — whether that emotion is fear, frustration, excitement, predatory instinct, or something else varies from dog to dog. We are here to help your dog understand that something that might otherwise trigger them is nothing more than an opportunity for something good to happen to them. These programs also dive deeper into leash handling as a communication technique, and how to ask so that your dog most easily understands - no matter what’s going on around them. Classes run on 6-week sessions.

Private Lessons

We are happy to come all the way to you in order to help with any problem behaviors you might be dealing with. We get it: dealing with reactivity is stressful for the human as well as the dog, and the most important thing is that we start where you and your dog are most likely to be successful—often this is in the home.
